I’m working on speccing a cluster and was curious if there is a knowledgebase or something that lists the gotchas and caveats like the one given in the 10G NIC thread (DAG card 16 stream limitation). Having something to refer to when building a new cluster would save lots of time/money in experimentation and tweaking when more optimal systems/NICs could have been purchased upfront.
Such as:
Is there a 10G NIC that most have success with? Specific drivers/kernel version?
Are there any platforms to steer away from as far as server/motherboard/bus/CPU/etc?
Many moons ago there used to be a ###Mb/Core rule of thumb, does something like that exist?
Has there been any success with blade chassis versus standalone?
