Justin, any chance that this is in 2.5? Or do you think this has been addressed somehow. (re OOM). As mentioned in last month or the month prior to that, I was having OOM-killer issues with 2.4.1 for a while that seem to have resolved themselves.
The crash in new is not the OOM killer, it is something else.
