LT election
The LT election cycle will start on August 12th. 4 seats are up for re-election - Johanna Amann, Robin Sommer, and Seth Grover, plus the seat that was not filled in the last election. For more information, please see our election announcement post
Security Issues
The Zeek project members are currently very busy with security issues – due to LLMs we have gotten a high number of them. This will probably continue for at least the near-term future and limits the feature development that is going on.
Berkeley Workshop
The LT discussed some logistics of the upcoming Berkeley workshop, including details of the room, some speaker updates, and how to advertise the event more widely.
Community survey
The LT got a small update of the current state of the community survey.
Community call format
The LT had a brainstorming session about the format of the Zeek community call. We discussed possibilities of refreshing the format. We had people presenting in the call in the past – which is great, but it’s hard to source enough content.
Ideas that were discussed are:
- Highlight it as an opportunity to ask live question
- The fact that the timing might make it complex for some people to attend was brought up
- We could try announcing content in advance more
- We could try talking more about things like new features
- It was also discussed what the metric should be – live attendees vs later views on YouTube.
