Do I have the go ahead to remove trace rewriting code from the policy scripts?

Yes.
Per earlier discussion, we'll have to prepare a patch for readding
rewriting back in, but I'll do that when I remove the internal code
(based on the old scripts). No point keeping the rewriting when
working on the new scripts.
