Zeek Workshop at CERN

The March Workshop at CERN is now full, with waitlists available. We feel like we have a great agenda, and are in the process of finalizing some logistics – like the facilities tour.

Potential Fall Workshop

We are considering trying to replicate the CERN event in North America, towards the end of the year. The idea is to try having a cadence of two Zeek workshops a year.

During the discussion it was pointed out that part of the success (in regards to signups) of the CERN event might be related to the venue (potentially lots of interested people already on the campus, central and interesting location). Previous US events were partially hosted by educational institutions or by companies having event space.

If you are potentially interested in hosting an event like this – contact us at info@zeek.org.

AI Policy

The Zeek project has been getting some AI slop submissions – which brought up the question if the project should have a policy around this.

The prevailing opinion during the lively discussion was that AI involvement in generally seems fine to us – as long as they are reviewable, have utility, and have a human in the loop that is responsive to changes. The main problem is that the submissions are not reviewable or poorly done.

It also seems important to disclose if AI was used – we especially don’t want to end up in a dialogue where our limited resources are tied up correcting automatically generated output.

We will discuss this topic more in the future.
