make install fails on Ubuntu

Hi all,

Running ubuntu 18.04 and I download zeek-3.1.4.

Ran ./configure && make no issues, when I ran make install,

CMake Error at src/cmake_install.cmake:47 (file):
file INSTALL cannot copy file “/home/mbaki/zeek-3.1.4/build/src/zeek” to
“/usr/local/zeek/bin/zeek”.
Call Stack (most recent call first):
cmake_install.cmake:138 (include)

Makefile:85: recipe for target ‘install’ failed
make[1]: *** [install] Error 1

Just to be sure: did you run make install as root? Otherwise, you’ll probably have no write permission to /usr/local.

Yes, I did.

I ran ‘make install’ again and got:

Staging Python scripts in /home/mbaki/zeek-3.1.4/build/aux/broker/python/broker
Error copying directory from “/home/mbaki/zeek-3.1.4/aux/broker/bindings/python/broker” to “/home/mbaki/zeek-3.1.4/build/aux/broker/python/broker”.
